The following excerpt was taken from President Barack Obama's Statement following the debt agreement today.
It sums up the President's work and challenges during the first 2 and half years of his presidency and the call to action, he and We have before us to meet the future challenges over the next year and a half.
"This has been a long and messy process, and as with any compromise, the outcome has been far from satisfying, but it has also launched an important debate about how we approach the big challenges we face. About how we rebuild our economy to create greater opportunity, and about whether we tackle our challenges by drawing on our best values as one country; everyone pitching in, everyone playing by the same rules. This chapter is over, but that work, and that debate continues. It is the debate for the strong hopeful American that brought you and me to together from the start, and I hope you will continue to lend your voice to that debate in the months to come. "
You know, the late Gil Scott Heron summed it up like this. "Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something."
